The Rasputina tour is over. We spent about 8 weeks in total on the road and played over 40 shows in over 35 states. It was such a great experience and I'm looking forward to more coming up. I met so many beautiful people and established a nice base of supporters that I've been longing for. Hello! Welcome to my world of Rainbow Tentacles...
Now that I'm home, I'm going to begin working on my next record Wholesome. I'm super excited about this because it's my first studio album! I love home recordings, but this one is calling for a greater attention to detail and sound quality than I can do alone. This is also my first collaborative record - ever. Aemen Bell gave sang on The Man Who Fell In Love With The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon this last February, so I guess you could call that collaborative as well (even though we're twin flames and I don't know where she starts and I end sometimes) but this one will include an incredible mix of really fantastic musicians. The lineup is looking like this so far:
Melora Creager on cello
Ryder Cooley on saw and accordion
Caelan Manning on saxophone
Rebecca Moore on electric violin
Sister Ursuline on cello & vocals
I'm still in search of some lovely singers and percussionists. Anyone out there interested in lending a hand?
I've also been asked to compose a few pieces for an upcoming performance by playwright Pamela Enz. It premiers this December 17th at Dixon Place in NYC's Lower East Side. It brings together some amazingly talented people like Eve Bailey, Anita Durst, Julie Atlas Muz, and more. I may or may not perform these songs live, but they will either be recorded and played or performed by one of the actors.
So, I am off now to begin these new adventures and will keep you posted on what comes up next.
Love, love, and more love,
I'm so excited to soon embark on a US tour with Rasputina. You can view all of our tour dates on the Shows page here. I'm going to be traveling with plenty of paraphernalia to sell at the shows including Anaesthesia CDs, t-shirts, art prints, & Pinecone Apothecary products.
The sound is so new and exciting to me. Melora Creager's timeless, epic duo-cello compositions set to beat boxing and piano accompaniment. It's an honor to be part of that sound and support an ever-changing, expansive artist as she reinvents and continues to transform her craft.
See you all out soon.
