The debut studio album that celebrates the artists exodus from NYC to the New York mountains.
Release Date: August 12th 2016
Joining Luis on the record is Rasputina's front woman & internationally acclaimed musician Melora Creager on cello, The Dresden Dolls & Violent Femme's drummer Brian Viglione on drums, NYC's performance artist & musician Rebecca Moore on electric violin, Ryder Cooley on accordion & singing saw, Australian composer Sister Ursuline on cello, Caelan Manning on saxophone, & more. This incredible cast of musicians almost magically lends itself to the record's initial concept & Luis' personal goal: to find artistic communities outside of the confines of the modern day city where, as he says, "art has become replaced with commerce."
The title track "Wholesome" opens with the lyrics "the cellphone sidewalk is dangerous, the catwalk sidewalk is boring, everyone's dressed to be noticed, but no one's even looking". The delicate piano melody against Mr. Viglione's wildly dynamic drumming carries the piece into a parade-like march that celebrates the artist's exodus from the city. Luis uses his wide, androgynous vocal range in the song "Lady Bug" which recounts the ecstatic, almost hallucinogenic experience, of watching a swarm of insects take flight through the forest, which tips the hat to the main theme of the album: finding ecstasy in nature.
